The City of Madison is soliciting bids for the Balch-Gillespie Roundabout Project | #2021-003-ITB, which consists of the furnishing of all labor, materials, and equipment as required by and according to the details, specifications, and contract documents contained in the Invitation to Bid and as generally described as follows: The project consists of constructing a roundabout at the intersection of Gillespie and Balch Roads. Working hours are 7:00am--7:00pm. The timeframe for completion is approximately three months from the date of the notice to proceed. Only properly licensed general contractors per Alabama law may submit a bid. Bids must be submitted on the required forms provided by the City of Madison Legal Department and may not be faxed or e-mailed. The project consists of constructing a roundabout at the intersection of Gillespie and Balch Roads. Contractor must perform work for Phase 1A and 1B under traffic using MUTCD standards for traffic control. Phase 2 work will be completed with roads closed to traffic. Road closure for Phase 2 work is to be during school summer break and is limited to 30 calendar days to minimize impact to local businesses and traffic. Liquidated damages will be collected in the amount of two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) per calendar day for each day the road reopening is delayed. Conversely, there will be a bonus of two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) per calendar day for each day the road is opened early. Working hours are 7:00am--7:00pm.
