Site work and renovation of a transportation facility in Toronto, Ontario. Working plans call for the renovation of a transportation facility; and for site work for a transportation facility.
Scarborough subway extension which will take Line 2 of the subway further east and north to Scarborough Centre, including a fully underground extension of the Toronto Bloor-Danforth subway Line 2 extension from Kennedy Station at the current eastern terminus of Line 2 north-east for 7.8 km extension of Line 2 north from Kennedy station, with stops at Lawrence East and Scarborough Town Centre stations before terminating northbound at McCowan station. The Scarborough Subway extension will be an entirely tunneled extension completed using a somewhat novel single bore tunnel construction typology and will replace the much-neglected Scarborough RT, which is set to close sometime around 2023. The Scarborough subway extension is actually already in early construction with a TBM launch pit already being dug at the line's future northern terminus. The line will include three new stations at Lawrence Avenue and McCowan Road, Scarborough Centre and a terminal station at McCowan Road and Sheppard Avenue. when open, the subway extension will attract 105,000 daily boardings, including 52,000 by new transit users. It will connect as many as 38,000 daily passengers within a ten-minute walking distance to transit. It will also improve access to jobs, with as many as 34,000 jobs within walking distance to transit. Metrolinx also says that, by extending the subway, it can reduce yearly greenhouse gas emissions by 10,000 tonnes. The future subway will allow passengers to connect with GO Transit trains along the Stouffville line and TTC subway trains along Line 5 Eglinton (also known as the Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line) and a future eastern leg of Line 4 Sheppard. And they can transfer to and from TTC buses along multiple routes and GO and Durham Region Transit buses. TIMELINE: Project is in early planning stages. Owner is currently undertaking the Initial Business Case to evaluate how the project addresses existing challenges and opportunities. Advance tunnel works were awarded in a separate report Development partners for the development of stations, rail and systems (SRS) were also awarded in a separate report.
