Renovation and addition to an elderly care / assisted living facility in Kitchener, Ontario. Completed plans call for the addition of a 95,000-square-foot, five-story above grade, 128-bed elderly care / assisted living facility; and for the renovation of a 41,000-square-foot, two-story above grade, 64-bed elderly care / assisted living facility.
Construction of a new five-storey, 95,000 sq ft new addition (128 LTC beds) and 41,000 sq ft, two-storey renovations (64 LTC beds) to the existing Long-Term Care Home for 192 beds in total. Construction will be completed in two separate phases, maintaining the existing building in operation. Both the new and existing phases are pursuing LEED Silver Certification. - New construction is precast concrete floor slabs on concrete bearing walls with brick veneer, fully sprinklered. - Existing construction is wood frame on masonry bearing walls with brick veneer, fully sprinklered. NOTE: Construction Manager has been awarded through a prequalification process. Trade Contractor Prequalification #1 and #2 have closed. Awarded trades will be selected from the existing submissions. Construction is underway and will take approx. 16-18 months to complete. Awarded amount was not released for publication. *Owner has been corrected.
