Remodeling and renovation of a clubhouse / community center in Socorro, New Mexico. Completed plans call for the remodel of a clubhouse / community center; and for the renovation of a clubhouse / community center.
Upgrades to HVAC, wiring, fire suppression and other systems will be included. Current bathrooms are inadequate and inaccessible. The project will remodel existing spaces which will allow residents an opportunity to improve or add marketable job skills. Classroom equipment to be purchased and utilized will include computers and other equipment to facilitate vocational rehabilitation efforts. The City would like to work with the State to move the El Camino Real Historic Trail Site museum to Socorro. This complex is a possible site. The gymnasium floor and hallway walls will be replaced as well other warped flooring areas. The City spend approximately $50,000.00 annually on repairs and maintenance due to the age and condition of the facility. The process that will be followed to implement this project will be a combination of the following: 1) Bid and award based on engineer drawing. 2) Purchase of materials through allowable state procurement regulations and installed by City personnel. 3) Construction of items purchased by City procured through allowable state procurement regulations by Contractors. 4) Demolition of existing unusable and unsalvageable areas to allow for more parking. 5) Demolition and reconstruction of areas badly lacking attention. 6) Rehabilitation of salvageable areas and assets. Phase one will consist of analysis of the existing structure to ensure occupancy of all area. This will lead to the planning and design elements. The second phase will consist of design of the current structure with potential changes. The third phase would be to rehabilitate/replace existing features. The fourth phase would be the addition of classroom/breakout rooms and furnishings. As of March 28, 2024, per owner, this has been a multi-year project that started approximately 5 years ago and is on-going. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
