The project is to plan, design and construct water wells for the Ramah Detention Center and within Section 27 to serve the Ramah Navajo Community, located within Cibola County, New Mexico. Phase I (completed) consisted of planning, design and construction of an exploratory well for the Detention Center, including securing easements/ROW, archaeological and environmental studies, and drilling a 700 ft deep exploratory well. The exploratory well unfortunately did not encounter any water and will require a much deeper well to be completed, expected to be over 2000 ft in depth. Phase II (not completed) will include drilling a significantly deeper well at the Detention Center site and drilling a well within Section 27. Project shall be implemented via the RFP process thus resulting in a responsible and qualified contractor for the timely completion of the project, may also use RFQ process to determine most qualified contractor. Ramah Navajo Utility Authority will own, operate and maintain the completed wells and the Navajo Nation will continue to be the Fiscal Agent for the project. As of January 27, 2022, this project is currently in the FY 2023-2027 CIP . Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction Fy 2023. A firm timeline has not been established; however, construction is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2023. Project is included New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration Tribal L-R FY 2020-2024 CIP. Per the engineer, as of June 20, 2019, they did the well design for the site and they are currently pursuing construction funding. Engineer states that at this time, they do not have an expected date for when construction will start. Owner states that they did not receive any money from capital outlay and a timeline for construction has not been determined.
