Site work, renovation and addition to a mixed-use development in Amherstview, Ontario. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 14,700-square-foot, two-story above grade fitness / recreation center; for the addition of a 17,600-square-foot, one-story above grade swimming pool; and for site work for a fitness / recreation center.
Redevelopment of the W.J. Henderson Recreation Centre. Upgrades would involve: A new aquatic facility with an 8 lane, 25 metre pool as well as a leisure pool; Larger and accessible aquatic change rooms; Upgrade mechanical systems and energy conservation measures; Accessibility upgrades to the remainder of the facility, such as the arena change rooms, washrooms, and stands. TIMELINE: Sequential tendering is ongoing at the Construction Manager; awarded trades will not be released for publication. A phased construction approach is underway to minimize the impact on arena programming. Substantial completion of the entire project, including the aquatics centre, is projected to be completed by January 2026. Full completion is targeted March 2026. The capital cost of the project accepted through validation is $49.5M. As part of the funding plan, the Township successfully secured up to $16.5 million in funding toward the project through Infrastructure Canada's Green and Inclusive Community Building (GICB) program
