The primary goal of this project is to improve safety for vehicles crossing the railroad track just north of Las Vegas Street on Royer. There have been several train and vehicle incidents and near misses at this location since 2005. Most of these vehicles have been longer vehicles, or vehicles with long trailers, getting stuck as they pass over the existing railroad crossing due to the roadway grades.
