As of May 29, 2024, the project is almost complete. Substantial completion is expected in early August 2024. The scope of this project includes, but is not limited to, the following: renovation of an educational facility. As of May 13, 2024, a general contractor has not yet been announced for the project. A firm construction timeline has not yet been released. Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000. Contractor Qualification DCAMM Certificate Project Phasing Due to the Florence Roche site constraints, the project will be phased with the construction of the NEW Florence Roche Elementary School occurring in Spring 2022 through Spring/Fall of 2024. As part of the 1st Phase, in the Spring of 2022, the existing track & field will be rebuilt behind the existing Middle School South Building while the new school is constructed in its existing track location. The new school is scheduled to be ready for occupancy for the Fall of 2024; then, the existing Florence Roche Elementary School will be abated and demolished. The remaining sitework and plantings will complete in the Fall of 2025, or earlier, TBD. To achieve this schedule, completing the new school for occupancy in the fall of 2024, multiple/early bid packages will be utilized to maintain this schedule. Currently, the packages being considered are as follows: [1] site enabling/track (earthwork, site electrical, utilities, temp fencing); [2] superstructure (foundations, structural steel, elevator, below-grade waterproofing); [3] plumbing, electrical, mechanical, envelope and major interior trades/finishes; [4] remaining scope and finishes. Traffic/shared site concerns The new school will be constructed on the existing track behind the Florence Roche Elementary School; and within a multi-school campus with challenging traffic patterns. It should be understood that thorough planning of construction traffic and close communication with the Schools will be required.
