Renovation of a mixed-use development in Des Moines, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 4,850-square-foot educational facility.

The Bid shall be awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder meeting the project specifications. However, the Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract deemed to be in the best interests of the Saydel Community School District. The Project shall be known as the 2019 Woodside Renovations, Saydel Community School District. The project includes renovation of interior finishes at four (4) general classrooms and one (1) special education classroom, totaling roughly 3,350 square feet and include retrofitting each classroom with either a skylight or clerestory windows at an existing pop-up roof. The project also includes ceiling and light fixture replacement at seven (7) corridors throughout the building, totaling roughly 8,950 square feet. Additionally, the project includes a bid alternate for renovation of an existing classroom and family consumer science classroom into a special needs classroom and small kitchen space, totaling roughly 1,500 square feet. Trades impacted by the work include but are not limited to demolition, general carpentry, manufactured casework, exterior metal panels, membrane roof patching, skylights and curtain wall glazing, doors and frames, drywall and metal stud framing, flooring, acoustical ceilings, painting, specialties, ductwork modification, electrical, and plumbing. Substantial Completion of the Project shall be August 2, 2019 and Final Completion of all punch list items by August 16, 2019. The Bid Proposal shall be made on the Bid Form included within the Project Manual. Oral, facsimile, telegraphic or telephonic bids or modifications will not be considered Bid Security shall be payable to Saydel Community School District. Sales or use tax shall not be included in the bid. Pursuant to Iowa Code, at the time a Construction Contract is issued, the Owner will also issue an Exemption Authorization Letter and a Designated Exemption Entity, Iowa Construction Sales Tax Exemption Certificate for the purchase or use of building materials, supplies and equipment that will be used in the performance of the Work. Other requirements with respect to this provision are set forth in the Project Manual. By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown, and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and preference will also be given to Iowa domestic labor in the construction of said improvements. The Contractor shall also furnish a copy of its Certificate(s) of Insurance showing coverage is being provided consistent with that stated within the Project Manual. The Project shall be paid for in cash or in warrants drawn on such funds as may be legally used for such purposes and available to the Owner. Final payment to the Contractor shall be made as allowed by the Code of Iowa
