This contract provides for milling and paving the Turnpike roadway with superpave wearing course and replacing Sonic Nap Alert Patterns. Work will also include shoulder reconstruction, guide rail end treatment update, guide rail replacement, drainage channel reconstruction, and repairing and replacement of inlets including replacing type A inlets with new inlets, drain pipes and end walls. This contract also provides for bridge repairs which includes Class AA concrete repairs and concrete deck repair and bridge expansion joint system. Additional work includes Homewood maintenance facility mill and overlay, and full-depth bituminous pavement reconstruction at Mileposts 11.8 EB and milling and paving of the Beaver Valley Interchange ramps, MP 12.9. An electronic bid bond, from an approved vendor, with corporate surety, in the amount of five (5%) percent of the bid must be submitted with the proposal as bid security. The bid security of the three (3) low bidders will be retained until the execution of the contract. (The normal time for execution of the contract is approximately four [4] weeks.) A Prequalification Certification and Applicable Capacity Rating assigned by the Prequalification Office of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is a necessary prerequisite for bidding on this project. The opening and listing of bids not meeting all the terms and conditions of the bid advertisement or bid procedures does not act as a waiver or modification of any requirements contained in the bid advertisement or bid procedure. The Provisions of the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act of August 15, 1961, P.L. 987, as amended, together with the rates and regulations promulgated by the Secretary of Labor and Industry applicable thereto, shall apply to this contract.
