The work includes grinding 71 miles of Class III and IV mainline passenger/freight track. Track contains overhead catenary wire system with wayside wood pole line and buried fiber/signal cables. Work will be performed on District mainline trackage between Michigan City, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois. The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) is seeking sealed bids from qualified contractors to perform Rail Grinding. All bids must meet NICTD!s specifications as further described in the Technical Specifications in the Bid Packet Information regarding these Bids, including the results, can be found at mysouthshoreline.com. (Go to "About" then "Purchasing") Bids will be received not later than specified date and time at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bids received after the above stated time and date will be returned to the sender unopened. Bids must set forth full, accurate and complete information as required by the instructions in the bid package. Failure to do so may result in rejection of a bid. NICTD!s overall Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation goals is nine and 78/100 percent (9.78) of the bid price. Bidders are required to make good faith efforts to meet or exceed the District!s goal If awarded, NICTD will award the Contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. NICTD reserves the right to reject any and all bids and waive technical defects if, in its judgment, the interests of NICTD so require. NICTD reserves the right to accept any bid within 90 days after the time of the opening of the bids, during which time no bid shall be withdrawn
