Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Valparaiso, Indiana. Working plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

Project will be re-advertised at a future date due to lack of bids received. The project consists of the replacement of an existing bridge with a new single span bridge. The overall purpose of the project is to replace the existing structurally deficient bridge and improve the conveyance of Salt Creek under the bridge. The new superstructure shall consist of galvanized steel beams supporting a reinforced concrete deck. The superstructure shall be supported on reinforced concrete abutments on shall spread footings. A steel sheet pile retainin wall shall be installed for permanent scour protection and to aid in dewatering during construction. Reinforced soil fill will be placed behind the concrete abutments. New approach roadway will consist of 4.5 inches of HMA on 12" of compacted aggregate base no. 53's on geogrid. Additionally, earthwork is planned to include cut up to 3 ft and fill up to approximately 2.5 ft. Drainage improvements include new ditches and an 18- inch pipe is planned to be installed beneath an existing drive on the east side of the bridge and south side of the roadway. Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid security made payable to Porter County in an amount not less than ten percent (10%) of bidder's total bid and in the form of a bank cashier's check, bank draft, certified check, or bid bond, on the Bid Bond Form included in the bidding documents, or a form otherwise approved by the Porter County Department of Development & Storm Water Management, executed in accordance with the provisions of Article 18 of the Instructions to Bidders, and issued by a surety acceptable to the Owner and authorized to transact business under the laws of the state of Indiana. The bid security shall stand as a guarantee that the successful bidder will, within ten days after receipt of the notice of award, execute and deliver the contract documents and furnish the required contract security, certificates of insurance, and insurance policy endorsements. The project is located on CR 700 N over Salt Creek just east of the intersection of SR 149 and CR 700 N. The project is located in Sections 28 & 33, Township 36 North, Range 6 West, in Liberty Township, Porter County, Indiana.
