Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a civil project in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; bridge / tunnel; bridge / tunnel; and water / sewer project.
The description and location of the project is as follows: Widening and reconstruction of Interstate 70 along with reconstruction of the PA 51 Interchange (Exit 46) to eliminate the substandard cloverleaf interchange and replace it with a Diverging Diamond Interchange. To accommodate new interchange, project limits on PA51 are 1.5 miles in length with approximately one (1) mile involving reconstruction and widening. Project involves several intersecting roads including the relocation of Finley Road (Township Road) to form plus intersection with PA 981 and construction of three (3) cul de sacs. Project includes work to rehabilitate or replace eight (8) different structures, two of which are railroad owned structures. Structure work consists of replacement of bridge on PA 51 over I-70 with dual structures, replacement of Wheeling and Lake Erie railroad bridge over PA 51, rehabilitation and full painting of Smithton High Level Bridge, and other work to extend and rehabilitate other smaller structures within the project, including the Cedarbrook Golf Course Tunnel. Project requires coordination with both Wheeling and Lake Erie and CSX railroads and includes a design build traffic control plan with detailed conceptual plan provided. Additionally, the project will include nine (9) stormwater management basins, use of column supported embankments, steepened rock slope construction, incorporated sewer line construction, traffic signals, new interchange signing including overhead sign structures, pavement markings, guide rail, drainage, highway lighting, ITS relocation work, channel relocation, and other miscellaneous construction, as indicated on the approved drawings included in the bid package for STATE ROUTE 70, SECTION E10, in WESTMORELAND COUNTY ROSTRAVER TOWNSHIP from approximately one (1) mile west of PA 51 at segment 0450/0451 offset 1381 to just east of Smithton High Level Bridge at segment 0480/0481 offset 0751 EB/0729 WB.
