Site work and new construction of a stadium in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 500-seat stadium.
Redevelopment of the Shell Place Stadium (MacDonald Island Park) into an all-weather indoor facility with a 5,000-seat multipurpose event space and 250-500 seat ice rink. The proposed design would include the Shell Place concourse, main level seating and the main entrance. TIMELINE: Project is conceptual. A feasibility study was completed by the consultant. No further design or construction work has been included in the owner's capital plans since the completion of the study. Further update may be available in 2026. NOTE: The initial estimated cost of the project includes $89 million for the new facility, $7.2 million for site services, $7 million for architectural services, and $13 million for furniture fixtures and equipment.
