Site work and new construction of a laboratory facility in Auburn, Alabama. Completed plans call for the construction of a 37,000-square-foot, one-story above grade, one-story below grade laboratory facility; for site work for a laboratory facility; and laboratory facility.
Addendum one moved bid date from 4/16 to 5/9. The Advanced Structural Testing Lab is planned to be constructed on an undeveloped site at the corner of Shug Jordan Parkway and West Samford Avenue. The 37,000 sf new facility will consist of structural testing labs and shops, concrete material testing labs and work areas, and administrative areas. The largest component is the high-bay structural testing space that contains large bridge cranes, a "strong floor" and "strong wall" (on which structural tests are performed), a geotechnical test pit, and open work space. The facility will be one story above grade with a basement (required for the strong floor) and an observation mezzanine. The project is required to achieve LEED Silver Certification.
