Renovation of an educational facility in Compton, California. Design plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

On April 18, 2023, the Compton Community College District Facilities Bond Program Schedule included the information below. As of April 1 2024, this project is a few years out, and design will continue for at least a year. There has been no firm bidding or construction timeline established. Vo-Tech Building Renovation (Project Budget $12,819,525.00) Scope of work for this project includes relocation of the existing Cosmetology program from its current location in Tartar Village into the Vo-Tech Building; expansion of the space for the HVAC program; demo of some existing interior walls and reworking of existing interior space with new walls; new paint, ceilings, flooring, doors, windows; upgrade door hardware/keying to ASSA Abloy; upgrade lighting, power and low voltage systems; complete renovation of existing heating and air conditioning system; ADA upgrade to existing restrooms; roofing repair/replacement; and replacement of existing storefront, and exterior doors and skylight in atrium area. ARCH RFQ/RFP: 9/10/18- 4/4/19 Evaluate & Award AOR Contract: 4/5/19- 10/31/19 Plans & Specifications: 5/9/2023- 7/31/2023 Permits & DSA Approval: 8/1/2023- 5/6/2024 Bidding & Award: 5/7/2024- 9/9/2024 Construction: 9/10/2024- 7/16/2025 MIS Building Renovation (Project Budget $3,000,000.00) This project includes demo of some existing interior walls and reworking of existing interior space with new walls; new paint, flooring, doors; upgrades to lighting, power and low voltage systems; complete renovation of existing heating, ventilating and air conditioning system; upgrade door hardware/keying to ASSA Abloy; ADA upgrade to existing restroom and anything else necessary to accommodate additional personnel and relocation of the Print Shop to this building. The area to be remodeled is approximately 7,500 square feet. The original construction of this MIS Building was done as part of the A#03-69120 Math Science Building Project on campus. That project is currently uncertified due to lack of deferred approval for the Math Science Building’s curtain walls, metal panel soffit, store front and observatory dome. The district has met with DSA Los Angeles and received direction that when the plans for the MIS Building renovation are being developed, the District should also provide and submit concurrently with the MIS Building Renovation plans, through the Architect, as-built drawings for the deferred approval items still outstanding at the Math Science Building. The DSA–LA office will review those as-built drawings to determine if they are sufficient to approve and certify the original uncertified project. If not, they have indicated that at that time they will determine if they are willing to separate the MIS Building portion of the work out of the original A number for provisional certification. Based on this DSA requirement, in addition to design for the renovation in the MIS Building, the response to this RFQ for this project should include costs for preparing and submitting to DSA the as-built drawings for the deferred approval of the curtain walls, metal panel soffit, store front and observatory dome of the existing Math Science Building. Original DSA approved drawings and specifications for the project along with all other documentation the District has for the original construction of the Math Science Building A#03-69120 will be made available to the Architect awarded this contract.
