New construction of a municipal facility in London, Ontario. Design plans call for the construction of a municipal facility.
Construction of a new headquarters capable of servicing and storing up to 252 buses on the site of the existing building for the London Transit Commission (LTC) to accommodate transit service growth and the conversion of the LTC fleet to zero-emission buses. Phase One includes the following: Phase I - Demolish building and tent at the south end of the property. Phase II - Build a maintenance area, administration offices and employee parking. Phase III - Demolish east part of existing bus garage. Phase IV - Build new service lanes and part of new bus garage. Phase V - Demolish existing service lanes and administrative offices. Phase VI - Clean up existing maintenance bay to store buses. TIMELINE: Project planning is ongoing. A request for qualification was released in December 2025, with the first stage closing in February 2026. The Stage 2 Invited RFP closed July 2026; council has recently recommended this be awarded to Arcadis. The award includes the feasibility of the work, project review, facility design and construction documents phases of the project. Phase Two is now followed on a separate report. Tender and construction timelines are unconfirmed. Further update early 2027. *Phase One estimated project costs - $199,500,000. *Arcadis has been awarded the RFQ for $4.343 million covering the project review, facility design and construction documents phases of the project.
