The City of Charleston, SC is soliciting qualification packages from eligible Contractors regularly engaged in construction of large diameter shafts. The single shaft will ultimately be incorporated into an overarching storm water drainage improvement program. A Contractor will be selected based on an assessment of their detailed Statement of Qualification. The City has identified a need to complete construction of a large diameter shaft that will ultimately be incorporated into an overarching storm water drainage improvement program. This portion of the project will include the following: - Site work including utility relocation and installation of temporary site fencing. - Development, installation, and upkeep of applicable sediment and erosion control plan. - Development, installation, and upkeep of applicable traffic control plan. - Support of excavation design of one 30-ft inside diameter (ID) shaft approximately 160-ft in depth. The Cooper Marl is encountered at approximately 55-ft in depth. The caisson method of shaft construction is expected but alternative approaches will be considered. - Construction of one 30-ft ID shaft including invert slab and lid. - Site restoration and improvements. - Compliance with permitting and project approval requirements. - All other appurtenant work.
