One water-supply well is to be constructed at the Wollett Mill Road Well Site located at the intersection of Red Oak Blvd (NC Highway 43) and Wollett Mill Road The well will be a Production Well with open-hole construction. Maps of this site are included in the Specifications. Note that the Womble Road well site referenced in the specifications is not part of the project at this time. The scope of services is described in the specifications, but are summarized as follows: Clear the site as needed with coordination with OWNER and ENGINEER; mobilize to the site; set 8 inch diameter steel surface casing to a depth of about 50 feet and grout casing; and then advance a 6 inch diameter test boring to a total depth of 400 feet using air hammer drilling techniques. A caliper log will be run in the hole, and well yield will be tested by the CONTRACTOR. The ENGINEER will determine if the yield will meet design requirements. If the yield is not sufficient, the boring will be properly abandoned by the CONTRACTOR per State guidelines. If a viable well can be constructed, the CONTRACTOR will enlarge the boring to a nominal 8 inch diameter to 400 feet depth. The CONTRACTOR will provide all equipment and staff to conduct a step test and a minimum 24-hour steady rate aquifer test. The CONTRACTOR shall collect water samples after 24 hours of pumping and submit the samples to a laboratory for analysis. The CONTRACTOR will provide all documentation as required by the State for a new well construction.
