Saving Project...

Demolition, site work, paving, renovation and addition to a library in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for the addition of a library; for the renovation of a library; for the demolition of a library; and for site work for a library.

This is your invitation to bid for the construction of a 2,540 square foot, two-story addition to the existing 5,000 square foot CLP Mt. Washington Branch, including interior and exterior renovations to the existing historic landmark edifice. The CLP has initiated a long-term effort to reprogram and rehabilitate the Main Library and its branches. The goal is to become a national leader in providing community library services. To compete and remain vital in this society, the Library is reinventing itself to be a place that people find welcoming and attractive a place to which they want to come. This renovation project will occur in conjunction with the overall fundraising, marketing and strategic planning of the library system. Funding for this project has been secured through proceeds derived from funding provided by the various sources including State and Local Grants. The CLP Project involves the construction of a 2,540 square foot, two-story addition to the existing 5,000 square foot CLP library branch, including interior and exterior renovations to the existing historic landmark edifice. The existing structure is loadbearing masonry and the addition shall be wood framed with cement siding, block veneer, storefront glass and an EPDM roof. Other elements include site work for storm water control, an ADA compliant ramp, fencing and construction of an exterior patio adjacent to the addition. The primary goal of the project is to create a library facility that meets the needs of today's customers for new and improved services in updated, welcoming surroundings. In so doing we expect to achieve the following: o Generate customer excitement o Attract new customers o Modernize the Library Branch while being respectful of the original historic building o Experiment with new facility program concepts such as comfortable areas for browsing, inviting reading areas, and special displays for "best sellers" and other popular items o Implement facility programming concepts that engage the neighborhood communities and reflect the unique character needs of the community into the facility design o Renovate and update existing infrastructure to preserve the building for future generations o Lower the operating costs of the building by employing economy-minded strategies The Library strongly encourages the solicitation and utilization of minority, women, and disabled business enterprises (MWDBE) to ensure that these enterprises have an opportunity to participate and provide construction services and construction materials and supplies. Solicitation and participation percentages for each respective enterprise should be provide with the Post Bid documents. Furniture - FF&E including metal shelving, (but not including permanently mounted casework described as within the Project's Scope of Work) shall be provided by the Owner. Some incidental coordination with the GC may be required. If you have any questions concerning the bid and the bid process please do not hesitate to contact via e-mail at krfaux@impconsrv.com .
