Bridge replacement and widening of Bruce Road: The project includes center medians with trees, landscaping, and architectural lighting, and also the construction of a 12-foot Class 1 bicycle path on the west side of the roadway. Bridge widening over Little Chico Creek will include raising the bridge approximately 3' in height to accommodate high water elevations, as well as widening from 2-lanes to 4-lanes. The project also entails the construction of a half-mile stretch of roadway into the Miriam Park Project in order to reduce the development cost of an affordable housing project within the development. As of June 2022, construction documents are underway. This Capital Improvement Project (CIP) consists of widening an approximately 0.90-mile segment of Bruce Road to a four-lane arterial from Skyway to E. 20th Street in order to accommodate several large active and proposed commercial and residential developments along the corridor. Physical improvements will be based on a complete street design and include roadway widening, installation of curbs and gutters, landscaped center median and parkway strips, drainage improvements, street lighting, signal design, pavement striping and signage, buffered Class 2 bicycle lanes, and a new Class 1 bikeway facility.
