The approximate extent and character of the Work is generally described as follows: 1. Bridge construction over Little Tallapoosa River. 2. Approach slab construction for both begin and end bridge. 3. Supply and install all other incidental items necessary to complete the work as detailed on the plans. Bidders shall inform themselves concerning Georgia Laws and comply with same. This project will take place on a roadway that is currently under traffic. The Contractor will be responsible for signage and traffic control during the project. All bidders must be GDOT prequalified contractors. Carroll County desires to have this project completed as soon as possible. Construction contract shall not exceed 270 days after the notice to proceed. The County will assess liquidated damages in the amount of $250.00 per day after the 270 days has expired. All Bids will remain subject to acceptance for forty-five days after the day of the Bid opening, but OWNER may, in its sole discretion, release any Bid and return the Bid security prior to that date. The County will pay the contractor for work completed at the stated unit prices less 10% retainage, and shall make monthly progress payments of approved invoices. Upon such final acceptance, the County will remit to the contractor all amounts remaining due under the terms of the contract. All bidders must provide documentation demonstrating their compliance with E-Verify/SAVE Programs. A bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid must accompany all bids. Successful bidder will be required to post payment and performance bonds in the amount of the contract using the required form. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, to waive formalities and re-advertise.
