Site work and renovation of a power facility in Ames, Iowa. Conceptual plans call civil work for a power facility.
Unit 7 surface condenser tubes were replaced in 2007 with Original Equipment Manufacturer materials of admiralty brass. The main alloys in admiralty brass are copper and zinc, both of which are now regulated metals on our National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit that was issued by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources in July of 2017. These tubes need to be replaced with stainless steel to maintain compliance with the permit by April 2022. The project is included in the city's 2021-2026 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of May 19, 2021, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified.* *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly.
