Site work and new construction of a civil project in Durham, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.
This project is for a new water supply intake on Jordan Lake. The initial planning will investigate the options for utilizing water allocation and the land needs for pipe lines and pump stations. The next steps are preliminary design, permitting, final design, and construction. A raw water pump station, a raw water transmission line to Durham, and potentially a new water treatment plant are options currently envisioned. As of July 16, 2025, this project is included in the City of Durham's Fiscal Year 2025 Capital Improvement Plan. A design-build team should be selected by the end of July with construction to begin in early 2027. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
