Site work and paving for a road / highway in Apex, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway.
The project would realign Davis Drive to improve the horizontal curvature as well as add turn lanes and extend Salem Church Road. The intersection would be shifted west, away from the CSX RR freight line, allowing for vehicle stacking beyond the tracks and allow for installation of a traffic signal and gate arms. Without this project, it is possible that Salem Church Road will eventually be converted to right-in-rightout and/or safety concerns will continue for the various issues- no left turn on Davis Drive backs up traffic southbound, no space for a traffic signal or gate arms to warn of an approaching train, and limited visibility around the curve on Davis Drive. As of November 9, 2023, this project is included in the Town of Apex's 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and funding is allotted for FY 26-27, FY 27-28 and future years. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
