This project includes the complete internal renovation of the building, upgrading of all mechanical and electrical equipment, roof replacement, and upgrading of building entrances. The existing classrooms, labs, and student spaces will all be fully renovated to meet current standards. At this time, we are soliciting RFQs and eventually RFPs for the Design Assist scope of work, which involves the evaluation and development of the design with the project team and design team to guarantee cost, scope, coordination and design intent. The A/E will be the designer of record with the Design Assist Subcontractors to provide design development deliverables thru the design process. After the review of all submitted qualification packages, selected subcontractors will be sent a Request for Proposal (RFP). One subcontractor per trade package will be selected to proceed with Design Assist services. The objectives for pursuing Design Assist for this package include: 1. Safety Approach & Planning: Align safety requirements and priorities within the design assist program and maintain safety compliance throughout the life of the project 2. Cost & Estimating: Develop and maintain a construction cost estimate for your trade package during each phase of design. Adherence to the project budget will be essential for this project. Value Engineering ideas and design assistance will be required if trade package costs exceed target package value. 3. Coordination: We are looking for awarded team members to be integral in leading the design planning and coordination processes and constructability so that the work can be planned ahead of time for a smooth and seamless installation in the field. BIM Modeling will be utilized to ensure that all work is coordinated during preconstruction to reduce or eliminate field concerns. 4. Schedule: The early release of a design assist package will allow for improved coordination, expedited submittals and procurement of equipment that would not be available under a traditional design/bid/build procurement method. Create and maintain a detailed project schedule. The schedule shall clearly depict all tasks, including durations and dependencies, and the tasks that are on the critical path. 5. Overall, we are looking for a collaborative team member to work hand in hand with Turner Construction, Penn State University, Bohlin Cywinski Jackson (BCJ), and CJL to help ensure the overall success of the project objectives. Turner Construction Form-36 Contract Terms and Conditions, dated July 02, 2018. This document will be made available by Turner Construction.
