Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a civil project in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Completed plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

The work encompassed in this contract shall include, but not be limited to: construction of temporary abutments on temporary piles, temporary steelpier and temporary alignment; erection of proposed steel girders on temporary abutments; erection of proposed deck; removal of existing deck, superstructure, substructure and foundations; construction of proposed abutments atop of proposed piles; construction of proposed pier; construction and removal of temporary works for bridge slide; execution of bridge slide operation; removal of temporary substructures; final preparation of MSE retaining walls; maintenance and protection of traffic; and all other incidentals, complete in place and accepted, as necessary, to complete the work of the contract to the satisfaction of the engineer. The proposed superstructure will be constructed on temporary foundations and substructure elements to the north of the existing and proposed bridge then moved south into place using a lateral bridge slide. While on the proposed substructure, the proposed superstructure will carry traffic while the existing bridge is demolished and the proposed pile foundations, substructure elements and approaches are constructed. The longitudinal bridge girders will be supported on a transverse cross girder at the abutments and pier that will slide with the proposed superstructure. Upon completion of the slide a closure pour will be made in the deck, sidewalk and barriers at each abutment and the structure will be opened for traffic. Final construction activities that will be completed after the proposed bridge is open to traffic include the removal of temporary foundations and substructure elements, partial removal of temporary MSE retaining walls, removal of temporary approach slabs and approach roadway. utility connections and construction of the north keeper block at the pier and the north cheek walls at the abutments. This scope of the ITS work included in this contract shall consists of the installation of new Closed-Circuit Video Equipment (CCVE), 80-foot camera pole, two radar vehicle detectors (RVD) in the median of Route 4 on the north side of Division Street Bridge No. 760, one RVD on the existing wood camera pole located off Route 4 northbound approximately 50-ft south of Middle Road Bridge, and the installation of a hybrid travel time guide sign in the Route 4 median approximately 2,000 feet south of Division Street Bridge No. 760. The proposed CCVE and RVDs will have hard wired connections for both power and communications while the hybrid travel time guide sign will be solar powered with wireless communication. The work included in this Contract shall include, installation of one (I) camera pole and CCVE, three (3) RVDs, installation of ground mounted control cabinets, testing of CCVE, RVD, and hybrid travel time aide si e s tit s ment installation of handholes and conduit installation of guardrail, installation of utility poles, utility connections, placement of plantable soil and seed, traffic control, and all other incidentals necessary to complete the work to the satisfaction of the Engineer.
