The Department intends to enter into a negotiated agreement for professional services to develop optimized horizontal and vertical alignments to make a connection between existing Forrest Service roads leading from Kake to those along Portage Bay, and for extending a road eastward to Frederick Sound. Also evaluate the conditions of existing Forrest Service roads to provide recommended improvements suitable for sustaining public traffic and cost estimates for improvements. Cost of these professional services is expected to be in the range of $150,000-$200,000.
