Site work and renovation of a transportation facility in Grinnell, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a transportation facility; and for site work for a transportation facility.

The extent of the work involved is as follows: Fuel System Improvements including installation of a new Av Gas above ground fuel tank, Av Gas fuel dispenser, Jet A above ground fuel tank, Jet A fuel dispenser and removal of existing Underground Av Gas and Jet A Fuel tanks and existing Av Gas and Jet A Fuel dispensers at the Grinnell Regional Airport Proposals will be acted on by the City of Grinnell at a meeting to be held at City Hall at 520 Fourth Avenue, Grinnell, Iowa 50112, at 7:00 P.M. local time on July 15, 2019, or at such later time and place as may then be fixed. Contract Time: The work under the contract shall actively commence within ten (10) days upon issuance of the Notice to Proceed. Construction on the project shall start no sooner than August 18, 2019 and shall be completed by no later than November 23, 2019. All work shall not commence on the project until all materials needed for the project have been received. The airport is anticipated to be closed during this same time period due to a Runway Rehabilitation Project. It is anticipated that the airport will re-open to aircraft operations and fueling operation on November 24, 2019. This project is subject to liquidated damages as described within the project manual. Bid Security: Each proposal must be accompanied with a bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful bidder will enter into a contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of contract a corporate surety bond, in a form acceptable to the Jurisdiction, for the faithful performance of the contract, in an amount equal to 100% of the amount of the contract. The bidder's security shall be in the amount fixed in the Instruction to Bidders and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a bid bond on the form provided in the contract documents with corporate surety satisfactory to the Jurisdiction and filed in an envelope separate from the one containing the proposal, made payable to: Treasurer, City of Grinnell. Said check or draft may be cashed or the bid bond declared forfeited by the Treasurer as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails to enter into a Contract within ten (10) days and post bond satisfactory to the Owner insuring the faithful fulfillment of the Contract and maintenance of said improvements as required by law and the Specifications. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications Award of Contract : Bidders shall not be permitted to withdraw their bids for a period of sixty (60) days after the date set for opening bids. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informality in the bids received in the best interest of the Jurisdiction. Bonding Requirements: The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond in the amount equal to 100% of the contract price at the time of contract execution. Each successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100% of its contract price. Said bond shall be issued by a responsible surety approved by City of Grinnell and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless City of Grinnell from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of 2 years from the date of final acceptance of the work under the Contract The City of Grinnell reserves the right to award the Contract at the time of said meeting or at such later time may then be fixed and to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities and irregularities and to enter into such Contract as it shall deem to be for the best interests of said Owner.
