Renovation of a municipal facility in Seattle, Washington. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
The Work includes to replace 47 existing Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). The VFDs are located throughout the Seattle Tacoma International Airport Terminal and its sur-rounding edifices. In general, each VFD replacement involves removing the existing VFD, pro-viding a replacement and reusing existing electrical connections where possible. An exhaust fan and louver will be installed in the old boiler room in Concourse C to provide to provide ventilation for a steam. to water heat exchanger and 4 VFDs. Scheduling of the VFD replace-ments will have two phases, Summer and Winter, based on heating and cooling as well as ensuring other VFIDs in a designated group are operational dur-ing the replacement.. This shall be coordinated with the Port of Seattle Aviation Maintenance Group and. will require advance notification through a Construction Advisory Form (CAF). There are six VF-Ds considered critical to the facility which will require parallel installations. At these locations the replacement VFD will be installed adjacent to the existing VIED, prior to remov-ing the existing VFD. The VFDs are connected to the Port of Seattle's Building Automation System (BAS), which utilizes the Siemens Direct. Digital Control (DDC) system. The con-tractor shall employ the services of Siemens to assist with the inte-gration and startup of each VIM into the BAS. In general, exist-ing controls wiring will be rep or-posed for controls connections to each VFD. The functionality of all VFDs shall remain the same as existing. The Engineer estimate range for this project is $1,579,200 - $3,158,400. Each bid must be accompanied by a cashier check, money order, or surety bid bond, in an amount of not less than five percent. (5%) of the total bid, made payable to Port of Seattle. Performance and Payment bonds will be required with the Contract.. Time limit for substantial completion of the work is 500 calendar days. The Port reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive any informality, to accept any alternate bids, and to make such award that it deems to be in its best interest and pursuant to the terms of the General Conditions. Contract time extends from Award of the contract. through Contract Completion as defined in the General Conditions. Work areas to be examined during the pre- bid site inspection may contain potential hazards. Prospective bidders shall wear protective clothing: Safety hard hat, high visibility vest, closed-toe sturdy footwear, gloves, protective eye wear and. ear protection. Prospective bidders further agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Port and its agents from any and all claims of personal injury arising from its participation in the pre-bid examination. Electronic copies of the Bid Documents for this solicitation can be accessed and printed through the Port Procurement and Roster Management System website shown below. Work areas to be examined during the pre-bid examination of the work site may contain potential asbestos hazards in varying degree. Prospective bidders shall provide and wear protective clothing and respiratory protection which they alone determine to be sufficient to protect themselves from asbestos exposure. The prospective bidder further agrees to indemnify, and hold harmless, the Port and its agents from any and all claims of personal injury arising from its participation in the pre-bid examination. A portion of this Contract requires work to be performed within an area of the Airport controlled for security reasons. Al]. Contractor personnel working in restricted areas (including A(I)A, Secured, SIDA and Sterile areas) on this project shall have Port of Seattle airport-issued identification/ access badges in accordance with Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 1540/1542 and the Airport Security Plan. Bidders should con-sider the impact of acquiring badg-es when preparing their bids.
