Site work for a water / sewer project in Suffolk, Virginia. Design plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The project will provide design and construction of improvements in the Olde Towne area to address ongoing drainage issues that were identified in the Olde Town Drainage Master Plan. These improvements will rehabilitate older infrastructure and relocate some existing infrastructure to provide more capacity and improved maintenance access. Project is being done in six phases. Phase 1. Pinner Street Drainage Improvements: New storm infrastructure in the ROW will connect to the existing infrastructure from the Pinner and Pearl Streets intersection to the outfall of Subwatershed 2 along Pinner Street and Finney Avenue. Phase 2. Holladay Street Drainage Improvements: New stormwater infrastructure in the ROW connecting Holladay Street with the proposed Pinner Street Improvements will extend north along Holladay Street and turn west along Finney Avenue to Pinner Street. Phase 3. Trunkline Improvements: The main system in Sub-watershed 1 will be upgraded to between 54” RCP and 6’x5’ box culvert along Commerce Street south to the railroad tracks and through private property north to the outfall. Phase 4. Johnson Avenue Improvements: New infrastructure is proposed along Hall Avenue and along the existing piping path to Johnson Avenue that will connect to the Sub-watershed 1 Trunkline improvements on the south side of the railroad tracks. Phase 5. New storm infrastructure in the ROW will connect the existing infrastructure along N&W Avenue to the existing infrastructure on the north side of Bank Street. Phase 6. Existing infrastructure along E Washington Street will be revised, relocated into the ROW, and connected to the Trunkline Improvements. Piping from the Smith Street and Saratoga Street intersection will be rerouted into the ROW along Poplar Avenue, along South Main Street, and through a City owned parking lot to connect to the Trunkline near Commerce Street south of E Washington Street. This project is currently in the FY 2026-2035 CIP. As of March 14, 2025, funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction FY2025, FY2030-2034. A design team for the first two phases has been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
