Site work and paving for a road / highway in Whittier, California. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
Work includes; the roadway slurry seal including providing traffic control, crack sealing, weed abatement, type II latex slurry seal, and installation of pavement striping and markings in the City of La Mirada. Each Bid must be accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's check, certified check or Bidder's Bond issued by a Surety insurer, made payable to the City and in an amount not less than ten percent (10%) of the total Bid submitted. Personal or company checks are not acceptable. Upon Contract award, the Contractor shall provide faithful performance and payment Bonds, each in a sum equal to the Contract Price. All Bonds must be issued by a California admitted Surety insurer using the forms set forth in the Contract Documents, or in any other form approved by the City Attorney. Failure to enter into the Contract with the City, including the submission of all required Bonds and insurance coverages, within fifteen (15) Days after the date of the mailing of written notice of contract award to the Bidder, shall subject the Bid security to forfeiture to the extent provided by law. In accordance with Labor Code Section 1770, et seq., the Project is a "public work." The selected Bidder (Contractor) and any Subcontractors shall pay wages in accordance with the determination of the Director of the Department of Industrial Relations ("DIR") regarding the prevailing rate of per diem wages. Copies of those rates are on file with the Director of Public Works, and are available to any interested party upon request. The Contractor shall post a copy of the DIR's determination of the prevailing rate of per diem wages at each job site. This Project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the DIR. The time of completion of contract shall be 25 working days as defined in the Standard Specifications for Public Works. Liquidated Damages, as defined in the referenced specifications, Section 6-9, shall be $800 per day. Each sealed bid marked: City of La Mirada, Bid for Capital Improvement Project 2019-03, "Neighborhood slurry seal - area 1 (Foster Park area), Imperial Highway, Neargrove Road, Jalisco Road, Florita Road, Crestoak Drive, Gara Drive, Ashgrove Drive, Excelsior Drive, Neartree Road, Bluefield Avenue, Stanleaf Drive, Figueras Road, San Bruno Drive. A mail and email address and telephone number must be left at the aforementioned office which the prospective bidder agrees is sufficient for contact. Any modifications, limitations or unauthorized changes to the bid forms will render the bid unresponsive and may result in its rejection. Alterations of the required format of the proposal must be explained or noted in the proposal over the signature of the bidder. All requests for information must be submitted in writing to the City Clerk by 4:00 p.m. on July 24, 2019. Requests for information received after that date may not be answered. Questions regarding the project should be directed to the Project Manager.The City reserves the right to reject any Bid or all Bids, and to waive any irregularities or informalities in any Bid or in the bidding, as deemed to be in its best interest. Each Bidder shall possess a valid Class A, General Engineering or Class C12, Earthwork and Paving Contractor's license issued by the California State Contractors License Board at the time of the Bid submission, unless this Project has any federal funding, in which case the successful Bidder must possess such a license at the time of Contract award. The successful Contractor must also possess a current City business license.
