Site work and new construction of a municipal facility in Baker Lake, Nunavut. Completed plans call for the construction of a 13,000-square-foot, two-story above grade municipal facility; for site work for a municipal facility; and 350-square-foot, one-story above grade municipal facility.
Construction of a new office building in the community of Baker Lake to accommodate the consolidation of Qulliq Energy Corporation's (QEC) business activities in its headquarters, currently spread over three separate properties. Completion of the project is set based upon a lease termination date for one of the three leased office properties. Amalgamation of the three separate offices into a single space is expected to provide QEC operational efficiencies, as well as provide QEC and the community of Baker Lake a physically identifiable QEC Head Office presence that currently does not exist. The location of the new office building will be on Lot 4, Block 50, Baker Lake, a green field site. This lot is adjacent the largest of the currently leased QEC offices. The new office building will have two storeys with a footprint of approximately 665 square meters per storey, plus an approximately 36-square-metre single-storey mechanical room. The building has been designed as a highly energy efficient facility with an assumed 40-year life cycle. The building has been designed to maximize natural daylighting, capable of withstanding the extreme Arctic environment found in Baker Lake.
