Renovation of a fitness / recreation center in Washington, District of Columbia. Design plans call for the renovation of a fitness / recreation center.

As of June 27, 2024, this project is in the design phase, construction documents are underway, and expected to be completed in the fall of 2024, the last design community meeting was held May 2, 2024. General contractor solicitation is scheduled to take place during summer of 2024, no further details have been released at this time. A firm construction timeline has not been established; however construction is not expected to begin until 2025. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The Department is issuing this RFP to engage a Design-Builder to design and renovate the existing Jelleff recreation center that includes various site improvements (Jelleff). The goal of this project is to improve the functions of programmed and service spaces, implement ADA compliance upgrades, revitalize areas that may be better utilized and enhance the overall recreational experience for the community. The major goals for the center include: improve the functionality of the existing spaces with existing programming; provide ADA access to the center; provide ADA compliance throughout the center; and provide central air-conditioning throughout the center including the gym, thereby enhancing the overall usability and community interaction with the Jelleff Recreation Center The Agreement will require that all trade subcontractors provide a payment and performance bond having a penal value equal to One Hundred Percent (100%) of the cost of the trade subcontract. All such bonds shall be written on a dual-obligee basis. Offerors are required to submit with their Proposals a bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of total bidding budget, in the form included as Attachment G. All bonding companies must be included on the Department of Treasurys Listing of Approved Sureties. Alternatively, Offerors may submit a cashiers check in lieu of a bid bond. However, in the event an Offeror who is awarded the Agreement fails to post a payment and performance bond for the full value of the Agreement, the Offeror shall thereby forfeit the full amount of the cashiers check, and the Department shall collect such funds as liquidated damages. If the Offeror chooses to submit a cashiers check in lieu of a bid bond, the Offeror must complete the form included as Attachment O and return, notarized, with the Offerors Proposal. *Project information, including timeline and contacts, has been obtained through public sources. The content management team continues to pursue additional details; however, the contact(s) listed have yet to disclose or confirm any information.
