SCOPE OF WORK - The Contractor shall perform everything required to be performed and shall provide and furnish all of the labor, materials, necessary tools, expendable equipment and complete in a workmanlike manner all the work required in connection with the construction of the Bluff Road Reconstruction (Bluff Road / S. Lafayette Street Realignment) Project in Sioux City, Iowa, all in strict accordance with the 2020 version of the Iowa Statewide Urban Design and Specifications (SUDAS), as further modified by the 2020 version of the Sioux City Supplement to SUDAS, and Special Provisions included in said contract documents; and in strict compliance with the Contractor's bid and the other contract documents herein mentioned which are a part of this Contract; and the Contractor shall do everything required by this Contract and the other documents constituting a part thereof. The project is located at S. Lafayette Street and Bluff Road in the Stockyards Addition and includes the reconstruction and realignment of Bluff Road and S. Lafayette Street. Each bid must be made on a form furnished by the City and must be accompanied by a bid bond, a cashiers check or certified check of an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States, or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States, in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, made payable to the City Treasurer of the City of Sioux City, Iowa. The check or draft may be cashed by the City Treasurer as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract within the ten (10) days after notice of award and post bond satisfactory to the City ensuring the faithful fulfillment of the contract. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. However, the City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, readvertise for new bids and to waive informalities that may be in the best interest of the City. By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the state of Iowa and to Iowa domestic labor. This project has an early start date of November 1, 2020, and a late start date of April 12, 2021. Work shall be completed within 50 Working Days. Winter work will be considered free; working days will not be charged until April 12, 2021.
