Site work for a mixed-use development in Coventry, Connecticut. Conceptual plans call for site work for a educational facility.

The Town of Coventry is seeking proposals for consultant services to conduct an historic architectural/engineering analysis of the former Caprilands site located at 534 Silver Street and develop a condition and assessment report that will assist in the future adaptive re-use of the property. The consultant will work with the Town of Coventrys representatives regarding the needs and goals of the project and prepare a report that addresses the following: An assessment of the resources current, existing conditions of the structures on a comprehensive basis. Prioritized list of work necessary to rehabilitate and/or restore the structures. Cost estimates and/or a proposed budget to perform the rehabilitation and/or restoration. A discussion on the existing building materials, condition of those materials, code violations, and ADA accessibility. Detailed plans and specifications that outline the necessary work to accommodate the rehabilitation and/or restoration. The purpose of the project is to produce a report of the current existing conditions of the residence and accessory structures that are present at the Caprilands site and produce a report to include all items addressed in the scope of work described below. The project requires a qualified Historical Architect. The consultant is expected to coordinate efforts with the project coordinator, Eric M. Trott, Director of Planning and Development as well as the Fiduciary of the Estate of Adelma Simmons, Atty. George Purtill, who is the administrator of the Estate and the property. The consultant may also need to do a site file review at the State Historic Preservation Office in Hartford, CT. The project is funded by grant funds from the State of CT Department of Economic and Community Development - State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). The grant has been funded in the amount of $20,000.00. Work must be done in accordance with SHPO standards and meet the Secretary of the Interiors Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and be prepared by a 36 CFR Part 61 qualified Historical Architect. The Town of Coventry reserves the right to award in part, to reject any and all proposals in whole or in part, or waive technical defects, irregularities, and omissions if, in its judgment, the best interest of The Town of Coventry will be served.
