New Hope Road, Raleigh, NC to provide for the consolidation of the Board of Elections operations in phases. The Wake County Board of Elections Renovations, Phase I Project consisted of securing the warehouse area and building envelope, improving storage capabilities and circulation, adding a large separation wall to assist with climate control, and updating the building's finishes. In early 2019, the Board of Elections offices moved from the Wake County Office Building in downtown Raleigh and in July 2019 climate control was completed for 24,000 square feet of the warehouse space. The Wake County Board of Elections Renovations, Phase II Project includes upfitting approximately 23,000 square feet of the remaining warehouse to provide much needed training space, support service areas, and meeting rooms. The Project scope will include improvements to the building envelope, enhancements to the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and security systems, ADA evaluation and compliance, and improvements to the building's functional efficiencies and sustainability. A small amount of sitework is also anticipated to connect the north parking area to the south loading area with a driveway. The scope and cost of Phase II are estimated to be significantly larger than Phase I. Construction is anticipated to begin following the 2020 elections and should be complete prior to November 2021. The Board of Elections operations will continue uninterrupted during the course of the Phase II Project and rigorous security protocols will be in place to accommodate construction activities.
