Renovation of a theater / auditorium in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 2,334-square-foot, one-story above grade theater / auditorium.

As of December 2021, construction is complete. The proposed work is generally described as follows: Gem Theatre Restroom Fit-Up work consists of renovation of the building at 105 West 1st Street adjacent to the Gem Theatre to provide restroom facilities to serve the theater. Second floor space at 107 West 1st Street will be improved as a shell space for future fit-up. All proposals shall be lump sum per the bid form. Single Prime Contract Bids to include General Construction, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical Bidders are advised that the City of Kannapolis has established a goal of 10 percent (10%) minority business enterprises as mandated by GS 136-28.4. The bidder shall identify in the bid documents the minority business participation it will use on the project. Forms are included in the bid documents for this purpose. Female and minority firms are encouraged to submit bids for this project Bid security in the amount of 5% of the Bidders maximum bid must accompany each bid. The Successful Bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, as security for the faithful performance and the payment of all bills and obligations arising from the performance of the Contract. Owner reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, including without limitation the right to reject any or all nonconforming, nonresponsive, unbalanced, or conditional bids, and to reject the bid of any Bidder if Owner believes that it would not be in the best interest of Owner to make an award to that Bidder. Owner also reserves the right to waive informalities. Bids will be awarded to the lowest, responsible bidder taking into consideration quality, performance, and the time specified in bid form for performance of work.
