This project includes the construction of a new sand volleyball court and the replacement of an existing trellis in Sylvan Park. The trellis replacement includes the removal and replacement of the existing semicircular wood trellis structure and attached wisteria with a steel, prefabricated trellis structure and new wisteria plants. The trellis replacement also includes the removal and replacement of wisteria irrigation, concrete flatwork, and existing site furniture below the trellis and the removal of several freestanding posts in various locations around the nearby restroom building and pavement restoration in those areas. Finally, the trellis replacement also includes an alternate bid item for the installation of a new trellis around the restroom building. The new sand volleyball court work includes the removal of the existing horseshoe pit improvements and some turf area, grading and drainage work, modifications to existing irrigation, installation of concrete walkway and benches, installation of volleyball court improvements, and replacement of some turf area. Other Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements are also included in this project at various locations around the park. These include some concrete sidewalk replacement, handrail installation near the restroom, slurry sealing and restriping the park parking lot, and installation of detectable warning surfaces.
