Renovation of an educational facility in Brantford, Ontario. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Masonry Restoration for the Main Gym at NPCVS. - The general scope of the Work involves the supply of all labour, all equipment including access rigging, shoring and safety fencing and all materials to complete miscellaneous masonry repairs, as detailed on the drawings and specified below. - Cut out and remove the exterior brick from the around the perimeter of the main gym for the areas identified on the drawings and on the photos and reclad with new architectural concrete block masonry units, complete with new air/vapour barrier and rigid insulation. Refer to photos and Dwg. 1 & 2. The Engineer will supply specific site direction on the wall areas to be treated at the time of construction. - Supply and install new precast concrete ledger to support new architectural block. Refer to Dwg. 2. - Cut out and repoint brick masonry joints, where directed by Engineer. - Cut out brick and replace brick with brick to match original brick as closely as possible, where directed by Engineer. - Cut out and re-seal existing control joints in the brick masonry, where directed by Engineer. - Cut new control joint into brick masonry and seal, where directed by Engineer. - Cut out existing perimeter sealant at windows and/or doors and re-seal with new sealant, where directed by Engineer. - Apply water repellent to areas of masonry, where directed by Engineer. - Remove and re-install six (6) interior basketball back board structures. - Modify roof flashings as required to accommodate new exterior wall thickness. - Remove and replace 4 large windows on east wall, as detailed on Dwg. W1. - The contractor shall be responsible for determining all construction processes and methods to be employed for the above work and shall be responsible for determining if the construction processes and methods employed require exterior and/or interior structural shoring to protect the building structure from movement or collapse. The above noted shoring shall be designed by a professional engineer and the field installation of any and all shoring shall be approved by the same professional engineer, prior to work on the areas requiring shoring.
