The General Nature of the Public Improvement: Furnish and install material to upgrade approximately 2,405 feet of three-phase 12.47Y/7.2 kV overhead primary, 115 feet of single-phase 7.2 kV overhead primary, and 235 feet of single-phase 7.2 kV underground primary. Alternate No. 1 is to furnish and install material to upgrade approximately 865 feet of three-phase 12.47Y/7.2 kV overhead primary with underground. Demolition/retirement of existing facilities and all incidentals for a complete operational system. The work shall commence on the day indicated in the Notice to Proceed and shall be completed within 250 calendar days from the date of the Notice to Proceed and on or before August 15, 2020. Should the Contractor fail to complete the work in this timeframe, liquidated damages of $250 per calendar day will be assessed to the work not completed within the designated contract term. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Chapter 26, Section 26.8, and as specified by the City of Breda, Iowa, in the amount fixed in the Instructions to Bidders. A public hearing will be held by the City of Breda, Iowa, on the proposed contract documents (plans, specifications and form of contract) and estimated cost for the improvement at its meeting at 5:30 p.m. on November 11, 2019, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 108 N 2nd Street, Breda, IA 51436. Said bond shall be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City of Breda, Iowa and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City of Breda, Iowa from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the Contractor. Each successful bidder will be required to furnish bonds in an amount equal to 100% of its contract price.
