Green Line Implementation Project - Development of Geary Avenue and Lower Davenport Parcels. The aim of this project is to design and oversee the development of parkland on Geary Avenue and MacPherson Avenue, in keeping with the Green Line Implementation Plan. The guiding principles for the Green Line include connectivity, safety, walkability, place making, and encouraging human and ecological health. All improvements within the provincially owned land parcels within the Hydro Corridor are subject to technical approvals by Hydro One. The scope includes implementing the vision for the Green Line, to transform a currently in-use electric transmission corridor into a five km-long connected park and open space. The corridor is owned by the Province of Ontario and includes active Hydro One infrastructure that powers our city and beyond. However, the land can do double-duty as both hydro corridor and public green space. TIMELINE: The architect completed design for the development of parkland at Geary Avenue and Lower Davenport in 2020. Tender and construction timing was deferred due to lack of funding and has not been determined at this time. Further update summer 2024. *The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time. *The Green Line Implementation Plan was completed in 2019 by DTAH, Dillon, Workshop Architecture, ASI and AW Hooker Assoc.
