As of March 28, 2022, a design firm has been selected for the project. A firm timeline for construction has not been disclosed. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: For RFQ Design - SR 408 Tampa Avenue Interchange As a minimum, the consultant shall be prequalified by FDOT in the following work groups: 3.2 Major Highway Design, 3.3 Controlled Access Highway Design, and 4.2.2 Major Bridge Design - Steel The services to be provided for the project will include final design and preparation of construction drawings / specifications for the addition of new ramps to and from the east at Tampa Avenue along with the reconstruction of Tampa Avenue from the northern ramp terminals south to Orange Center Blvd to a three-lane curb & gutter section with wide sidewalks. The existing ramps to and from the west shall be reconstructed to accommodate the proposed roundabouts as shown on the attached concept. The EB exit and WB entrance ramps at US 441 shall be reconstructed to accommodate the proposed Tampa Avenue interchange; the existing EB exit ramp to US 441 is to be removed and Carter Street improved at the intersection with US 441 to provide an EB-to-NB left turn lane. The existing WB exit to US 441 shall be expanded to provide 4 lanes downstream of the existing ramp toll plaza. A pedestrian bridge over Carter Street at Rio Grande Avenue will be required. Additional elements include surveying, drainage evaluation and design, bridge and retaining wall design, permitting, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), lighting, signing and pavement markings, maintenance of traffic,utility design and coordination, geotechnical analysis, scheduling and project controls, progress
reporting and other associated tasks and activities.
