Upgrades, improvement and urbanization of the McGill College Avenue. The project will be accomplished by construction packages: Package 1 : from Cathcart Street to De Maisonneuve West Boulevard and Package 2 : form De Maisonneuve West Boulevard to Sherbrooke West Street. The project aims five following development objectives: - deploy abundant vegetation that fits into the iconic landscape of McGill College Avenue; - highlight the spirit of the place by taking into account the historical and heritage dimensions of McGill College Avenue and maintaining the precious view of Mount Royal; - offer an atmosphere of relaxation and conviviality adapted to the contextual variations of McGill College Avenue and to the various users; - adapt the configuration of the avenue in order to generate a predominantly pedestrian public space in a coherent and safe relationship with vehicular and cycling spaces; - develop an exemplary urban public space in terms of material quality and durability of the facilities. TIMELINE: Working drawings are underway. According to the owner's intension the project will be implemented by construction packages. The development project is scheduled to begin once the work on the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) is completed at this location. Based on the current REM schedule, the city will start work on the plaza in 2025 or 2026. Note: The design consortium also includes the professional consulting firm Mandaworks (Sweden).
