Renovation of an educational facility in Tacoma, Washington. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
As of April 27, 2021 project is currently under construction and is scheduled to be completed sometime in the 1st to 2nd Quarter of 2022. The University of Washington (University or UW) is soliciting Statements of Qualifications (SOQ) from qualified design-build teams (which may include joint ventures) to design and construct the UW Tacoma Learning Commons and Engineering Renovation project. This project has two focused scopes of work: The Learning Commons is a joint effort of the Library, Teaching and Learning Center and the Center for Equity and Inclusion. The renovation will take place in the Snoqualmie, Tioga Library and Tioga buildings. The Engineering Renovation creates Mechanical and Civil Engineering labs and support spaces for the School of Engineering and Technology. This renovation includes the Garretson Woodruff Pratt, Birmingham Block, Birmingham Hay and Seed and West Coast Grocery buildings.This will be a phased project with Phase 1 fully scoped; potential additional phases to follow as approved by Campus Leadership and dependent on funding. Phase Start Date End Date Construction Work in Progress: July 2021 December 2022 The project budget is $6.5 million. The University's target budget for all work to be provided by the Design-Builder under the design-build contract is $5 million exclusive of Washington State sales tax.
