As of January 23,2020 This project is scheduled to be awarded on February 11, 2020 meeting The work shall commence on the day indicated in the Notice to Proceed and shall be substantially completed within 360 calendar days from the date of the Notice to Proceed for Group A (with Milestone A1 -Tie-in to Existing mains substantially completed within 60 calendar days), 300 calendar days from the date of the Notice to Proceed for Group B (with Milestone B1 -Backwash Effluent Forcemain substantially completed within 180 calendar days). The work for Group C shall commence on 60 days from Notice to Proceed and shall be substantially completed on or before 210 days from Notice to Proceed. Should the Contractor fail to complete the work in this timeframe, liquidated damages of $500.00 per calendar day will be assessed to the work not completed within the designated contract term. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Chapter 26, Section 26.8, and as specified by the City of Malvern, Iowa, in the amount fixed in the Instructions to Bidders. Group A: Construct new two-stage water treatment plant, well building improvements, well pump modifications, new backwash lift station, and a 7,000 LF sanitary force main. Group B: Construct 1,600 LF of 6-inch water main to replace 4-inch mains and construct 800 LF of 6-inch water main to replace small diameter mains. Group C: Recoat water tower exterior, recoat water tower interior, install new safety railing and antenna mounting hardware, and install hydrodynamic mixing system. The successful bidder will be required to furnish bonds in an amount equal to one-hundred percent (100 percent) of the contract price, said bonds to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment for all materials and labor and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of Contractor.
