Demolition, site work, asbestos abatement and new construction of a fire / police facility in Hinesville, Georgia. Completed plans call for the demolition of a fire / police facility; for the construction of a 22,500-square-foot fire / police facility; for site work for a fire / police facility; and for asbestos abatement for a fire / police facility.

Construction of two new buildings, a 17,000 SF fire house and a 5,500 SF administration building, and associated site work. The fire house is a combination of load bearing CMU and steel framing, is 2-stories, and contains five apparatus bays on the first floor and fire fighter living quarters on the second floor. The admin building is wood framed and contains offices and a training room for the fire department. This project will be constructed in phases. The new 2-story fire house and associated site work will be constructed first, in Phase 1, on the southern portion of the site. There is an existing fire station located on the northern portion of the site, which must remain operational until the new fire house is complete. Once the new fire house is complete (Phase 1), the Owner will relocate into the new facility. In Phase 2 the existing fire station will then be demolished, and the new admin building will be constructed on the northern portion of the site. The existing fire station contains asbestos containing material, which must be properly abated during demolition. Bid security shall be submitted with each bid in the amount of five (5) percent of the bid amount. No bids may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days after opening of bids. Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities and irregularities. Bidders Questions: Bidder questions will be received until 5:00 PM on January 11, 2022, after which, no questions will be received. Bidder questions will be answered by 5:00 PM on January 13, 2022. Successful bidder shall begin the Work on receipt of the Notice to Proceed and shall complete the Work within the Contract Time. Liquidated Damages: If the Contractor neglects, fails or refuses to achieve Substantial Completion of the work by not later than 12:00 AM (Midnight) on the date established in the Contract, the Contractor shall pay to the Owner Liquidated Damages in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500.00) per calendar day for each and every day that the Contractor is in default after the date indicated on the Notice to Proceed. Bidders must be properly licensed under the laws governing their respective trades and be able to obtain insurance and bonds required for the Work. A Performance Bond, separate Labor and Material Payment Bond, and Insurance in a form acceptable to Owner will be required of the successful Bidder. Bidders must provide proper documentation demonstrating their qualifications. Documentation includes Bid, Bid Bond, Bonding Capacity, Financial Statement, Similar Project Experience with References, and MWBE Participation. Bidder Qualifications must be submitted in a separate sealed opaque envelope. Bidder qualifications must be submitted at the same date and time as the Bid. Addendum #1 was issued 1-3-2022. As of March 4, 2022, the awarded general contractor has been announced, but the final contract has not yet been issued.
