The proposed 7,430-square-metre (80,000-square-foot) Northeast Community Centre (NECC) will include a range of services including aquatics, gymnasiums, fitness, library and community space sized to meet the anticipated demand for recreation and community centre services in the area. TIMELINE: Request for proposal from seeking complete Architectural and Design consulting services is closed and pending award. Concept design work is ongoing. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2025. The targeted schedule is: 2024: Design development. 2025: Site preparation and servicing. 2026-2027: Construction. 2027: Anticipated facility opening.
