Site work, new construction and renovation of a mixed-use development in Quebec, Quebec. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a transportation facility; for the renovation of a transportation facility; and for site work for a transportation facility.
Construction of a high frequency rail network between Quebec and Toronto - Project Alto. New routes will be established by upgrading discontinued and lower density rail infrastructure, as well as building 1,000 km new tracks with stops in Toronto, Peterborough, Ottawa, Montréal, Trois-Rivières and Québec City. The High Frequency Rail project involves the separating passenger and freight rail operations, creating more capacity for sustainable transportation for both people and goods, as well as the opportunity to optimize current services along Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence Seaway. It will increase the speed up to 300 kilometers an hour and transportation frequency for travelers and goods. Scope of the project also includes redevelopment of the railway tunnel Mount Royal. Stations for the new reserved lane are planned in Laval, Trois-Rivières and at the Jean-Lesage International Airport in Quebec City. The proposed project also involves purchasing new trains to provide service along the route. Up to 90 per cent of the new service would run on electricity, contributing to a green economy and creating good jobs. The value of the project is currently estimated as high as $7.6 billion. TIMELINE: Public consultation is scheduled to be held from January till March, 2026 in various cities of the provinces of Quebec and Ontario. The federal government has confirmed that the first segment of the future Alto high-speed rail line will connect Montreal to Ottawa. This approximately 200-km section will allow teams in Quebec and Ontario to begin work simultaneously, accelerating the acquisition of skilled labour and the future expansion of the network to Quebec City and Toronto. Construction of the Montreal–Ottawa segment is scheduled to begin in 2029, with pre-procurement activities starting as early as 2026. *Building Canada Act Project.
