Great Lakes National Cemetery is in Oakland County, just north of Detroit near the town of Holly, MI This project will develop approximately 30 acres of undeveloped land to provide approximately 28,400 gravesites, including both casket and cremation sites in new burial sections. The project will include approximately 9,600 pre-placed crypt full casket gravesites, 300 oversized pre-placed crypt full casket gravesites; 6,500 pre-placed urn crypts with integral headstone support boxes, garden niche, or terrace sites; 12,000 columbarium niches; access roads and parking, new committal service shelter, grading, drainage, landscaping, signage and site furnishings, irrigation, new satellite public restroom facility; cemetery-wide electrical evaluation corrections/upgrades; upgrades/ improvements to maintenance complex, security upgrades, re-seal pavement sidewalk joints, replace assembly wall caps, repair/replace existing flower watering stations, energy efficiency upgrades, protected habitat preservation, wetlands mitigation, and Geographic Information System (GIS) Site Integration throughout cemetery.
